Thats, like, your opinion

Matt came down thursday night. We went to the library with Kait and Oahn, surprise surprise. Friday was spent doing...well...nothing of any real consequence. I didnt work, which was grrrreat! I did get a bit done around the house though...organized my dresser, which it desperately needed! Now I have a bunch of clothes to get rid of. Saturday I hung out in the morning, then worked. Saturday night was a blast!! There is a girl at work, Jessica, who I close with a lot, and she and I went out together saturday night. Oh my god did we have fun. We started with a drink at her place...I had discovered a new flavor of Absolut Vodka - Apeach, its soooo good with orange juice. So we had those. Then we went to cantina, where we promptly sat down at the bar and ordered two irish car bombs!! I had never had one before (which horrified Jess...which is why we had them in the first place). What it is is a glass of Guiness Stout beer, and then you have a shot of Bailey's Irish Creams and Irish Wiskey, which you drop into the Guiness just before chugging the whole thing!! Yay!! It was actually really good. So we sat and chatted for a while, then decided we wanted another drink, so we asked Travis (the bartender - who is also a friend of mine) to make us "something good"...and he did...and it was. I dont know what it was though. Well...we had enough in us at that point to get up and dance, though no one else had really decided to. Except this one guy, who is always there on Saturday nights (80's night!! Good times!!), so we hopped up on the mini stage and danced our hearts out with him. It got busier, we ran into some people I know, hung out outside, etc whatever...then decided it was time for another car bomb!! There were three of us that had them the second time around...its kinda fun actually...and very tasty. So at about 2 am Jess' boyfriend Tom (bless his heart for doing this) came and picked us up.
I woke up Sunday morning on Jess' couch (which was actually really comfy) with Saturday night's dancing and good times still rolling around in my head. No hangover though, I have yet to be hungover after one of my nights out (knock on wood) guess im just lucky that way...not to mention very well hydrated.

Sunday was fun...I worked in the morning...then headed to the coast. It was Marcia's (my step-mom) birthday, so I headed to their place for a little party. Tyler had organized a little sushi-making party, which was dinner also. It was a rather small, light dinner though, but that was all well and good since the dessert/birthday cake was an amazing carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Oh my god this cake was unbelievable!! Actually, I just remembered theres a piece in my fridge that I took home...im going to eat it when im done here. So we had cake, opened presents, hung out...then my dad and Marcia went to bed, and Tyler, Zach and I hung out at a friends house til about 130. It was pretty fun...it felt good to just hang out with my sibs, I dont get to see them that often.

Ok...time for carrot cake!

Slackwhat?

Drove home from portland today, got some stuff done at home, worked from 230 to 630...then headed to the climbing gym!! The best part of the day! I went around a couple of times, doing a warm up traverse, then tried Jed's idea of “fun”, which was traversing around the gym, keeping my shoulders no more than about 4 feet off the ground, it was hard…there are not very many good holds down there, and its more difficult to use your legs cause they are all cramped up. Well, needless to say that didn’t last very long. So we played a game that was actually fun…cant remember the name…Jed does two moves, I do his two then add two of my own, he does his, mine then two more…etc, so on and so forth…its fun, but he’s better than I and loves to make it hard for me. So at about 715 Chris decides its time to go and put his slackrope to good use. So we head to the field in the northeast corner of campus and string it up between two trees…what a slackrope is is a special, flat, nylon cord that you rig up between two trees, very tightly, so that you can walk on it. And we did. Its hard. I really need to bring my camera more places with me so that I can take pictures of this kind of thing!!

Belay on!

So Matt and I went to a climbing gym last night. Yeah...that was interesting. lol...it was actually fun, and quite a learning experience!! I’ve been getting pretty good at climbing at Dixon (the Rec center at OSU), have a couple of bouldering routes that I've been working on and getting better at, and others that I'm well enough at that I can go up and down them a couple of times without stopping...so I’ve felt pretty good about my climbing abilities. Well...enter this climbing gym!! First off, the routes had no ratings!! That threw me off a bit, cause I know what kind of route is good for me to warm up on then I work from there, depending on how I feel. So what we had to do was just look up the route and see if we thought we could do it. The next setback was that they use a mechanism called a grigory for the belayer (the person on the bottom holding the end of the rope for the climber), and it actually has an automatic lock and a lever to pull to let the climber down. I’m used to using at ATC device, which requires a lot more attention by the belayer, but its what I always use, so the grigory was actually harder for me. After climbing for a little bit, I discovered two crutches that I have in my climbing. One, Dixon itself. I’m comfortable there, I know the walls and routes, and what I can and cant do, and what to try when I'm feeling good. This place was totally foreign. The other crutch that I discovered I have is the guys I climb with. There is a good-sized group of guys I go with, most of them work at Dixon, and when they are not there working, they are there climbing, and there is also a couple that don’t work there, they are just always there. Well, I always climb with these guys, and we sort of have our system down and know each other’s abilities and styles and everything. It was very different for me to not only be removed from this group but to also be with someone with whom I have no system set up. Not that I dont love you matt!! lol...it was just interesting, cause I have things that I just do, and thats how it is. But usually the people I’m with do it too...so those are my two working goals now for climbing, I need to get out more (which will be hard due to time and financial constraints!!) and I need to get out with some different people...or I need to train Matt better to do it my way (yeah right!)

So that was yesterday...aside from that my life has been pretty basic lately...I had the two jobs at Old World Deli and The Beanery on circle, then last week I got a job at Ruby Tuesday too!! YAY!!! Except that...wait...let me see...yeah...that’s three jobs!! Do I want to survive the summer? I think yes. So I put in my two weeks at Old World Deli. I’m planning on keeping Ruby Tuesday and The Beanery through the school year. But that’s been my life lately. Working, climbing, organizing my stuff at the new house, and going out....now there are some good stories!!
Last week Kait, Oahn and I went to the Library (I love that it sounds so innocent!!) on Thursday and then Cantina both on Friday and Saturday. Now...listen to this. Saturday was the first time that I've ever been to Cantina totally sober (I know...its sad!!), and I have to say, it was a rather eye-opening experience!! and the last time I’m ever going to do it again! lol

What me golf?

Ok, so here is a story. Matt took me golfing yesterday. Well, we went to a driving range. Ive done it before, but never with instruction. So we get there, get our balls, and he gives me a few pointers to start on. I do a couple of slow practice swings and decide that im ready for it. After all, I have hit a golf ball before, I should be able to do this...right? Wrong, the very first swing I took, the golf club goes flying 30 feet out, and the ball goes about 5!! I just about died laughing. It took me a while to calm down enough to try again. And to get over my newfoud fear of accidentally throwing golf clubs!!
The rest of the time was relatively uneventful, I never really got the hang of it, my balls kept going off to the right, but it was fun.

Working Girl (times 2!)

Ok, so I have two jobs now. Cause one wasnt enough!! lol. Yeah, I am now working at Old World Deli and at the Beanery on circle. Its great. The scheduling is going to be rough though...the shifts that each has dont quite mesh well. Its also sort of worrisome for me because the climbing wall at the rec center is only open monday through thursday 4-8, and climbing is important to me, but it is going to be very hard to fit in with the jobs. Itll all work out though.
Im all moved into my house now....its great. I have what I really need in my room...and everything else in the garage! Its so much, I seriously need to downsize my stuff. Im lucky that Sheila (the girl who owns the house) has a garage with so much extra space!! its nice though...theres a big fenced yard for Dahli. Shes mischevious though! She already figured out how to open the gate, so we had to get a different lock for it so she couldnt open it! Little stinker...Sheila has two pugs, and all three of them escaped and had their run of the neighborhood.
